Use Google voice with SIP VoIP Phone to make and receive free phone calls within U.S. and Canada

If you are in USA then Google voice is a must for you. Google voice allows you make free calls to any number in USA/Canada and incoming calls to your Google voice number. We have published few articles about using Google voice from various parts of the world to make free calls. Today we will discuss about a free Google Voice SIP service which allows you to use Google Voice from anywhere in the world on any SIP enabled mobile or soft phone. is a VoIP service which provide SIP bridge to your Google voice account totally free of cost.

How to setup or use Google voice SIP
  • Create SipBri account by visiting website
  • Login using your login credentials
  • Click on SIP devices and click on Generate SIP Account (ignore the error if it says "Something went wrong"
  • Goto GV accounts and enter you Google Voice account details
You need to wait from 30 minutes to 5 hours for the first time activation of your Google Voice account. (although website says to wait for few minutes but you need to wait little longer for full activation)

Once your SipBri Google voice is activated, you can click on SIP Devices and note down the SIP settings mentioned there to use it in any SIP client.

Please leave your comments below if you face any issue.

  1. Works good. Only problem is no ringing tone when you dial a phone no. On connection, it works fine.

  2. Are there any other options besides GoogleVoice? Any other GoogleVoice competitors that are free to the public?

  3. If you are not receiving the calls, make sure you go into your google voice setup and under phones make sure your google talk account is set to receive calls.

Also a caution, you are effectively turning over your google account login information to a third party when you use this service (similar to how the Android App GrooveIP works). Their servers create a google talk login profile for you, and login to your google account to receive voice calls. For some that may be a big trust issue.

  4. There are many internet phone services that use the Sip protocol like Axvoice. I wonder what is so special about this protocol? There are other protocols used in VoIP industry as well but not as commonly as Sip.

  5. Tried changing different settings in Google Voice but cannot receive any calls. Outbound calls are OK. Does anyone know the solution?

  6. Free calls to the US and Canada! Even Nettalk Duo also offers the same call plans. Plus you do not need a computer to make and receive these calls.

  7. I truly like to reading your post. Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a nice information.
