We have always debated about a phone which can compete Apple`s innovation of the millennium. There is Samsung, LG and NOKIA who has already came with products to compete with Apple iPhone. But frankly speaking except Samsung and Nokia  no one has given a fair competition to iPhone. BlackBerry has also launched one 9500 series product sometimes back named BlackBerry Storm. They have basically tried to capture iPhone market share as well as to focus on their traditional Business phone users.

Well BlackBerry Storm  phone, is a RIM (Research in Motion) handset. With Storm, BlackBerry has tried to give a stylish phone touch to its business phone users. Now we will review claims and reality of BlackBerry Storm.

Now let’s review Blackberry Features

Design and looks
The Storm is absolutely amazing. You will definitely fell love at first sight. A big giant high pixel touch screen is the focal point of looks and a silver bezel around sides of phones. The battery cover is made from solid piece of brushed aluminum, and the camera and flash sit atop the plate, covered by a glossy plastic strip, this gives a good quality looks to a business class phone. Generally, the construction of the hardware and components used are good in quality than previous BlackBerry devices. Overall design is killing and no doubt you will love it.

Touchscreen
I can bet, you will not find this anywhere else. Yes I am talking about “Click-Through”. With the help of this technology, you will actually feel pushing down the screen when you touch screen to press a button. This will surely help you when typing with touch screen keyboard.
In term of Screen Pixel also Storm has an advantage; the Storm Screen is 480 pixels by 360 pixels while the iPhone screen is 480x320 pixels. Tilting between portrait and landscape modes is similar to iPhone with Accelerometer Technology. In terms of touch screen Storm is surely have an edge over Apple`s iPhone.

Keyboard
In Landscape mode you will have a full QWERT experience in BlackBerry Storm that too with clickable screen. When you switch to portrait mode - the standard mode for a cell phone, there are two options first is Pearl - 20 buttons keypad, second is a normal phone keypad where you choose letters by multiple taps on the numbers.

Camera
Picture quality of Storm`s 3.2 Megapixel camera is great. Actually far better than Apple iPhone. Auto focus, 2X Digital zoom and Video ability is an added advantage over Apple`s iPhone.
But wait, Storm is a BlackBerry high end phone with 3G capabilities. Still very sorry to say, No front Camera for video calls.

Storage
The Storm has 1GB of internal storage and an 8GB MicroSD card is included in Box. Maximum capability is for MicroSD cards up to 16GB. Well 8GB-16GB is always enough for any Business or Media player phone.

Internet Browsing and Email
Its inbuilt browser is quite capable, but not as good as Apple iPhone`s Safari. Storm browser will zoom in when you double click on the screen and free finger scrolling is also there.

Media
The Storm allows for playback of almost all major audio formats. Good Screen resolution and great quality speakers. It doesn’t have Radio, which is a negative. Overall Storm is a good media player device.

Business Features
Well a BlackBerry is a BlackBerry. It has all document software like Word, Excel, and PDF... But don’t you think that a business phone should have video calling.

VOIP in BlackBerry Storm
I will say -10 for this... With non availability of Wi-Fi (WLan), your 3G data plan will cost you a lot until you have an unlimited one. There are few RIM's pre-approved apps like Google Talk, AOL Instant Messenger, Flickr, Facebook etc, if you talk about True VOIP application I think only Skype and Truphone are the applications right now. I think this is an area which will surely hit Storm Market.

Visual Voicemail
Visual voicemail comes in fashion with iPhone. This means you will see a visual representation of your voicemail.

Cost (Slightly over priced)

Cost in India is around 27900 Rs.
Cost in US is around 500$ (unlocked)
Cost in Italy is around 400-450 Euro (unlocked)

Conclusion
BlackBerry Storm is definitely a strong competitor for iPhone. But no Wi-Fi and Video calls gives a feel that it will not be as suitable for VOIP and well as Business. Only advantage you will get from BlackBerry Storm is killing looks with BlackBerry facilities. But I don’t think this will be a wise option in 500$. We will give 2 out of 5 to BlackBerry Storm.

Please share with us, why Do you love your phone?????.....

Nokia`s 5800 Express Music for is fully touch screen phone which proves that Nokia is serious in touch screen phone business. This is the first device to run on Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5. XpressMusic Brand help this phone to prove its power as a music phone. This phone comes in mid-high range of phone with a strong Nokia Brand name, quality music and touch screen features.

* Music play Up to 35 h

Now we will review phone by its features............

Design and construction
Nokia 5800 has a long body with elegant color screen, display of 16:9 is unique , Samsung F490 is probably the only handset to be used as a reference. I can tell you one thing that Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has its own identity in looks , just like IPhone has. No doubt Nokia will be proud of this design.

Impressive high-resolution screen
The Communicator series and the exotic 77xx tablets aside, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic 3.2" display is the largest in the family. The resolution of 360 x 640 pixels is also second to the E90 business monster. In fact, outside the Windows Mobile realm there isn't any other device to match the display resolution (Not even the Omni).

Operating Platform
Series 60 is always a better performing platform in terms of customizing and better UI. This device proves S60 capability to transform in touch screen UI. Overall we find it very good... It doesn`t hang like some previous devices.

Music and Radio
XpressMusic branding, actually it doesn`t satisfy up to a extent... User interface is quite similar as S60 3rd edition version. There are few small changes but music player interface could be more better.
Coming to music quality , it's very good and you can say one of the best in Nokia.
Simple interface of FM radio on Nokia 5800 XpressMusic can automatically scan and save the available stations in your area with RDS support.

Video playback
Well video playback will set Nokia 5800 XpressMusic in back foot. It supports a limited number of codecs, no DivX and Xvid. This issue was not there in previous versions of S60 as third party applications are available for them. Developers yet to come with a solution for this issue in 5th edition of the S60 UI.

Accelerometer Gaming
Accelerometer-based games were the most attracting features of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It comes with two preinstalled games and only one of them could make use of the sensor. Control is not that much good and but big high resolution screen and touchpad always an advantage for gamers.

GPS (Global Positioning System)
Nokia 5800 XpressMusic comes with a built-in GPS receiver , and it seems a highly sensitive unit. The handset was quick enough start in a moving car in about two minutes. A-GPS might have sliced a few additional seconds when you turn it on.

VOIP( Voice over IP)
There is no SIP-client built-in. But you can install other sip-clients on it. Well Fring will be the best suit for 5800.

Total box Contents
We cannot remember a mobile who offered this much in the box without getting out-of-reach kind of high-end. Nokia 5800 XpressMusic comes with an 8GB memory card. There is also a microUSB cable to use for your data connections, a TV-out cable that normally ships with high-end N-series models only and a two piece hands free. It's 3.5mm on either end so you can easily replace the provided headset without sacrificing the remote.

Price in India --- Approx Rs 18500
Price in Europe --- Approx Euro 250-350
Price in USA --- Approx 370$ for unlocked

Main disadvantages:

* Symbian S60 5th is new so software availability is limited
* User Interface is not very much good
* No smart dialing
* Poor image quality , comparing with other phones of same class
* Touch web browser not as good as IPhone`s Safari
* Unavailability of voice-guided navigation in GPS
* you cannot charge mobile with micro USB

At the end we still feel Nokia 5800 is a worthy deal. You will get interface that not as competitive as others are having in same range but the package you get for 250Euro with a brand name of nokia is still a fair deal..

Over all We can give 4 out 5 to Nokia 5800 XpressMusic because of its cost to feature stats.
