Tired of getting unwanted Promotional marketing calls? If on an average you receive 10 calls a day then definitely 3 will be from some Loan provider, Credit card, Holiday package or from your Mobile operator itself. Sometimes it will become very annoying, specially if you are on roaming. There is a solution for it. Almost Every Country is having a facility called "Do Not Call Registry". Today we will discuss National Do Not Call Registry Service for INDIA.
At First I will tell you, what is NDNC. Actually National Do Not Call Registry is a database maintained by TRAI(Telecom Regulatory Authority of INDIA). This is basically to safe guard users from Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC). As per NDNC website, UCC has been defined as "any message, through telecommunications service, which is transmitted for the purpose of informing about,or soliciting or promoting any commercial transaction in relation to goods, investments or services which a subscriber opts not to receive, but, does not include, ----
(i) any message (other than promotional message) relating to a service or financial transaction under a specific contract between the parties to such contract;or
(ii) any messages relating to charities, national campaigns or natural calamities transmitted on the directions of the Government or agencies authorized by it for the said purpose;
(iii) messages transmitted, on the directions of the Government or any authority or agency authorized by it, in the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, decency or morality."
Now Lets check How to Register your Mobile for National Do Not Call Registry --
There are three easy ways to register your Mobile number for NDNC -
1. Dial 1909 from your mobile no and follow the instructions
2. SMS 'START DND' to 1909
3. Call Customer Service of your mobile operator and ask them to register your number.
Activating NDNC service is totally Free of Cost and you can unsubscribe with the service anytime by sending an SMS to 1909 with keyword 'STOP DND'
Most of the operators Like Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, Idea cellular and TATA DOCOMO workout your DND service with Single SMS. But I faced little Problem with Reliance NDNC service. When you try to send SMS to 1909, it will get failed. If you call 1909, surprisingly it will welcome you with reliance promotional scheme. The only way which I find is through Customer Care service.
(Please Note that it may take upto 45 days to include your number in National Do Not Call Registry Database)
